He is one of India’s foremost environment and climate change experts. He is the President & CEO of the International Forum for Environment, Sustainability and Technology (iFOREST). He has a deep interest in global environmental issues like climate change. He was conferred with the Ozone Award by the UN Environment in 2017 for his contributions towards Ozone and Climate Protection.

Vikas Singh

He is an associate executive editor of TOI, in charge of all North India editions. He reads and writes passionately on almost every topic under the sun, but confesses to a special weakness for cricket, economics and the economics of cricket.

Vihaan and Nav Aggarwal

They are the winners of Children’s Climate Prize 2019 for clean air, in Stockholm- Students of The Shri Ram School. Since February 2018, the brothers have been running a non-profit, One Step Greener, which collects dry waste from households across Vasant Vihar, Anand Niketan, Shanti Niketan and West End and delivers it to different recyclers.

She is Associate Director – Climate Change and Energy at WWF-India. In the last 15 years as an environment and climate change professional, she has worked on diverse issues such as climate policy, community based clean energy access, cities, climate innovation, renewable energy, and rural development.

PARTICIPATION

Who can participate?

Participation is open for school students from classes 6th to 9th only from Delhi/NCR, India.

How to participate?

To participate in the contest, you need to record a video (up to 2 minutes) expressing your views on the given topic and submit your entry in the prescribed format on the website with your details.

What is the Topic for the Contest?

Topic is “Fighting Climate Change”.

Can we participate as a Team in the contest?

No, you can participate only as an individual in the contest.

Why do I need to submit my details?

Details are needed to validate an entry. Upon selection you will be contacted through the provided details on the website, it is important to submit the details.

I don’t reside in the given cities, Can I participate?

No, only the students who are residing in Delhi / NCR are eligible to participate in the contest.

Can I submit multiple entries?

Only one entry for every participant will be entertained

Can I make changes/update my entry after submission?

Once an entry is submitted, no changes/ revisions would be permitted by the participants.

My School name isn’t in the School List. How do I submit my entry?

While submitting the entry, under the school drop down, click on others. A pop up screen will appear where you are required to add the name of your school along with the location and submit your entry. For example if DPS Mathura Road isn’t present in the school drop down, please enter ‘DPS, Mathura Road’ and not ‘DPS’ in the pop up screen.

Why do I require to share my Guardian/Parents detail?

Being a minor, it is required that your parents/guardian read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of the contest. After submission of your entry, an email with the link to the T&C will go to your parents for their agreement.

What are the specifications for submission of the Video?

Video submitted should be less than 2 minutes in length. Voice and video quality should be clear enough for the Judges to go through your entry and rate you.

Till when can we submit our entry for the TOI Young Change Leaders Contest?

Last date for entry submission is now extended to 3rd February 2020

Will students of all classes be evaluated together?

No, assuming that the exposure of a student studying in class 9th will be generally higher than a student in class 6th, we have kept the evaluation categories different.

  • Junior Category for Class 6th and Class 7th
  • Senior Category for Class 8th and Class 9th

What are the parameters to be used for judging my entry?

CONSTRUCTION/STRUCTURE

Can I submit animated videos or video related climate change?

No , only self-recorded video where the child is expressing his/her views on the given topic is acceptable. Any animated video or video related climate change will gets disqualified.

PRIZES & DISTRIBUTION

When & Where will be the final event?

Final event is on 6th February 2020 at Hyatt Regency, Delhi.

When will the winners be announced?

Winners will be announced on the final event day, i.e. 6th February, 2020

Can top 16 will be from each category ?

No , total top 16 videos will get shortlisted where top 8 entry from each categories(junior and senior category) will get shortlisted.

When will be the shortlisted participants get notified ?

Shortlisted participants will be directly contacted by The Times of India team before the final event day.

What are the prizes ?
  • Top 6 winners (3 under each category) will win Kindle E-Book Reader, Medals, Certificates, Gift Hampers, Opportunity to get featured in Times of India & NiE along with a Golden Chance to be the STUDENT GUEST EDITOR for NiE.
  • Top 10 (Students who got selected for the final round ) will win Certificates and Gift Hampers .
  • E-Participation certificates for all the other students .
